FIS Nerd is a tool for alpine ski racing that can estimate athlete's FIS scores, even while a race is still in progress. Simply paste the URL for the results page of the race you're interested in, and FIS Nerd will do its best to estimate the FIS points for each athlete based on the data available at that moment. Supported live timing platforms include live-timing.com, live.fis-ski.com, and ACA live-timing (alpinecanadalive.org or live-timing.ca for example). Support for ACA was a primary motivation for creating this tool.
FIS Nerd is able to discern all aspects of a race from the URL, including all of the constants, minimums, and maximums that are required to calculate race points and penalties. For races that are still in progress, FIS Nerd estimates points by doubling run 1 scores for those who have not completed their second run, calculating and applying the race penalty from the current data.
We all know that your coach is probably a big nerd, but try not to let them know about this tool. We also know that if you don't have this tool, you'll probably spend even more time obsessing over what your points might be if you do this or that on run 2. So, have a peek here, get it over with and then just get out there and execute, ya big nerd! If you're a parent or a fan, you're definitely a big nerd for being here!
